CrossFit Rota is a non-profit military affiliate located on Naval Station Rota, Spain. It was established in June 2010 by athletes Fred Passin and Andy Greenawalt whose curiosity in "stuff" they found on the internet led to the organization we are today.
Together they purchased most of our current equipment, and became Level-1 trainers. With the help of others, they were granted access to an unoccupied room, and converted it into CrossFit Rota.
Its founding members and the people who originally started working out have since departed Rota, but the CFR family remains. Their dedication has not only inspired others to become Level-1 trainers, but forged the future with the creation of new boxes like, CrossFit Incirlik (Incirlik, Turkey) and CrossFit GK (Geilenkirchen, Germany).
In May of 2014 CrossFit Rota became part of the MWR Fitness program and moved to the Base Fitness Center. We still operate as a CrossFit Military Affiliate with the collaboration and support of the MWR Fitness Center.
Today, CrossFit Rota is managed and maintained by active-duty military trainers. We dedicate our off-duty time to train with the community, and coach new and advanced athletes. We currently follow the programming of Crossfit Invictus of San Diego, CA written by CJ Martin.
